Single Review: Tate Stevens - "Power of a Love Song"
By: Matt Bjorke
Throughout his run on Simon Cowell's FOX TV program "The X Factor" this past fall (A run where he was never out of the Top 2 vote-getters), Tate Stevens became an immediate fan favorite thanks to his ability to connect the the songs he was singing (and with the audience). On "Power Of A Love Song," his first official single sent to radio, Tate Stevens comes across as immediate and warm. He sounds like an immediate star.
This is the kind of song that helps set Tate Stevens apart from the pack of newcomers. His voice is a voice which rivals quite a few top stars with more depth and emotional punch than one might expect to hear from a former road construction worker. Again, this is the kind of song that he excelled at singing on "The X Factor" and it proves he DOES have the X-Factor that so many artists struggle to find.
Quite simply "Power Of A Love Song" sets Tate Stevens apart. Instead of delivering a Peach Picker-like ditty that is similar to everything else on radio, "Power Of A Love Song" stands out and showcases Tate Stevens as a strong-voiced singer ready to become the first true star to come out of The X Factor.
Songwriters: Bradley Gaskin, Mark Johnson and Jeremy Bussey
Producer: Blake Chancey
