Nashville, TN (May 10, 2010) – In light of the devastating flood that tore through middle Tennessee on May 1 – 2, Country Angel’s Network and Roughstock are joining forces in launching a new flood relief campaign! Two organizations have been chosen as co-beneficiaries in the "Rebuilding Nashville" campaign: Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee AND the Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity.

A ChipIn! widget has been posted on both the Country Angel’s Network AND Roughstock websites. Patrons are invited to send donations for the "Rebuilding Nashville" campaign by clicking on the widget; these donations will be processed through PayPal.

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee’s facility was one of many buildings that were in the direct line of the flood. Currently without electricity, the staff continues to salvage as much of their previously stored food as possible as they simultaneously seek a new location.

The Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity is actively involved in the rebuilding of homes and lives for families and individuals in the Nashville communities. In the aftermath of natural disasters – including floods – the Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity becomes an even more important facet in helping those who have lost their homes rebuild and re-locate into a new one.

Country Angel’s Network

CEO, Estella Pan, shares her thoughts about the new campaign. "My mission for Country Angel’s Network has always been to host annual online auctions and fundraising campaigns to benefit children, families, and communities with an immediate financial need at hand." She continues, "The aftermath of any natural disasters is detrimental in and of itself. When the people affected are your personal friends, the urgency to help becomes even more heightened. It was important to both Matt and I that the raised funds stay IN Tennessee to directly benefit those in the community whose homes and lives were affected by the flood."

Roughstock’s Editor, Matt Bjorke, agrees. "While I was blessed and lucky enough to survive the floods with minimal damage to my home and possessions, I know that many others, including quite a few of my friends in Nashville, were not so lucky. In an effort to help as many folks in the Nashville and Middle Tennessee area, I'm happy to be able to put forth my time to help the area recover." He adds, "When choosing who to donate the funds from this campaign, we felt it was best to try and keep it as local as possible. With that in mind, I am happy we've chosen the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee and the Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity. Both organizations provide tremendous support for local families without much fanfare and in this time of need, their services provide a lot of comfort to folks who are at a loss as to how they will recover from this event."

Country Angel’s Network
