One Flew South - "Life"

By: Daryl Addison

The second single from One Flew South’s debut album is a happy-go-lucky 4-minute pop country blitz featuring carefully crafted melodies that echo the vocal harmonies of the 1970s. Opening with a pedal steel guitar, acoustic guitars quickly ring before the listener is served a tale of being helplessly in love with someone thought only to be a friend. The real standout here are the intricate and precisely delivered vocal harmonies that soar throughout the chorus. The sound is more reminiscent of the Eagles than Hank, but the tune is catchy, upbeat and fun.

Ooops! I guess I got these guys confused with either "One Night Rodeo" or "Forty-Five South" or maybe both! No wonder why the videos look so professional...

Rick, One Flew South ARE on a big label. Decca Records, part of UMG.

I enjoyed the music video for "My Kind of Beautiful" when I'd catch it on GAC and these guys do have a really nice sound and style. This new song is even catchier, but if radio isn't biting then what can they do? The smaller labels just don't have the money and connections to sponsor nationwide radio station tours like the big labels do, and that puts the artists at a huge disadvantage. If Top 40 country radio was more about the quality of the music rather than just playing it safe with the big names, these guys might have a shot.
