Miranda Lambert - "The House That Built Me"
By: Matt Bjorke

Miranda Lambert finally scored not only her first number one hit in White Liar but she also found herself in the Top 10 for the second time, seven singles and three albums into her career. As the follow-up for “White Liar,” Miranda has chosen to release the one song that is, perhaps the best song she’s ever recorded in “The House That Built Me.”
Written by Tom Douglas and Allen Shamblin, “House That Built Me” is a song that plays on the country cliché of nostalgia without ever feeling cliché. It finds Miranda genuinely musing about the house that she spent her formative years of her life in and like many things (and songs) she’s able to remember the memories that helped teach her to be the person she is today.
If Miranda Lambert is now one of country radio’s latest go-to artists then there’s no doubting that this single will be a hit. Even if it’s not a Top 10 hit for her (as it should be), Miranda still will bring a touch of traditionalist, singer-songwriter class to the charts while giving fans a truly amazing song to listen to between the radio commercials and the other hits of the day. I have no doubts that come CMA time this fall that “The House That Built Me” will find CMA “Song of the Year” nominations while also standing a chance to give ‘Ran a “Single of the Year” nomination as well.

This is a great song! Hope it does get played on country radio instead of more of Swift's silly songs. This song is to me what country music is all about..not fairytales.
