Martina McBride Signs with Republic Nashville Records
By: Matt Bjorke

After over 18 years with Sony Music’s RCA Records Label, country music icon Martina McBride has signed an exclusive recording contract with Republic Nashville. The label, a joint venture between Universal Republic Records and Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Label Group, was trilled to add the star to their roster with Borchetta talking about the label was built from the ground-up and hoping that they could “lure a superstar artist” before introducing Martina to the assembled media and label staff. Martina said, I’m excited to have the label’s passion, excitement and energy focused on my career.” According to the CEO of the label, Martina McBride will begin recording in January for a possible late spring single release, but he said that the “music would have to lead.”
Republic Nashville President Jimmy Harnen had this to add, “Along with being a gigantic Martina McBride fan, it is an honor to have the opportunity to work with one of the greatest female vocalists of our time. Martina and her artistry are timeless.”
Republic Records Nashville's artist roster includes Eli Young Band, The Band Perry, Jaron & The Long Road To Love, Sunny Sweeney, Shel & Fast Ryde.
What do you think of this news? Do you think the label will give Martina a similar boost that label partner Valory Music Company has given to Reba or were Martina’s days as one of the top hit makers at country doomed regardless of where she records for?
