LoCash Cowboys - "You Got Me"

It’s easy to look at the original image of the duo LoCash Cowboys and then summarily dismiss anything they do as unsubstantial.  But then the duo went and released “Keep In Mind” and put those worries aside (for me and many others at least) with a heartfelt tune about parents learning to lovingly let their kids go. It also became their first Top 40 Billboard hit.

To follow-up “Keep In Mind,” the duo released a song I first heard them perform in their energetic live show in 2009. That very first time I heard “You Got Me" at that show, I told a radio friend also in the audience that the song should be the single the duo releases to radio. And here we are, three years later, with the song now released to radio as the their follow-up single to “Keep In Mind” and first Billboard chart single “Here Comes Summer.”

There are songs that describe a new relationship without any real feeling and then there are songs like “You Got Me,” which makes the listener feel like they’re in the relationship described in the song. That warm, fuzzy glow of a new relationship and all of the feelings that come with it are present in “You Got Me” which is more than enough for me to heartily recommend “You Got Me” to listeners everywhere.

Everything about “You Got Me” gives off a feel-good vibe and it expertly showcases how a song can take the feelings that are associated with being in love and put them to song. It’s not cliché, it’s not corny.  “You Got Me” is warm; it’s heartfelt and it’s downright catchy.

Hopefully the gatekeepers at country radio do allow “You Got Me” to be the hit a song like this deserves to be.

Written by Preston Brust, Chris Lucas and Eric Halbig. Produced by Jeffrey Steele.

Matt - enjoyed reading your article and would like to add that they are substantial in a lot of charity work. Chris and Preston are spokespersons for D.A.R.E. as well as having raised money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital the W.O. Smith School, T.J. Martell Foundations and the Alex Le’Vasseur Memorial Fund which was established by Jeffrey Steele in memory of his son. Add to the fact they are stellar performers and this ties into one of the best musical packages to come out of Nashville in awhile! Thanks again for the article!
