Keith Urban - "Without You"

If there ever was a song on Keith Urban’s Get Closer that suits Keith Urban and his life with wife Nicole Kidman, it would be this song.  Written by Dave Pahanish and Joe West as an ode to Dave’s own wife and what she’s meant to him in his life, “Without You” feels like it was written for Keith, with lyrics in the chorus saying “The Travling/The Singing/It don’t mean nothin’ without you/the fast cars/the guitars/they are all just second to/this life/this love that you and I’ve been dreamin’ of for so long/it’d all be as good as gone/without you.

The production is simple, with banjo, acoustic percussion, bass and acoustic guitars providing the melody the heft it needs while Glen Duncan’s fiddle weaves in and out behind the verses and gets a fantastic solo.  This song is undoubtedly one of the most ‘country’ ballads or songs that Keith Urban has released in years and with the understated production (which could’ve very easily been bombastic in other artists hands) never gets in the way of the simple and devotional lyrics.

Keith Urban is often at his best in intimate moments like this and “Without You” feels like it was ripped from his life, even though he didn’t write it.  Thanks to Emily West sharing Dave Pahanish’s Dave Pahanish singer/songwriter album, Keith recorded this song.   It is one of my favorite songs on Dave’s own album (which is full of hits, including “American Ride” and “Do You Believe Me Now”) and it instantly became one of my favorite songs from KU’s own record and one that should have no problem racing up the charts and becoming a wedding anthem this summer.

"Without You" is definitely one of the best songs that Keith has ever recorded. His voice is so beautiful on this very simple, but heart-filling song. In fact, I have never heard Keith better than on this whole album. I love every song on "Get Closer".

This is the ideal post for someone who desires to be familiar with this subject. You certainly place a new turn on a topic that’s been on paper about for years. Fabulous material, your post is absolutely impact a read if somebody comes across it. I didn’t grasp that this subject was so vital. You undeniably place it in perception for me.

Keith Urban is a master musician...and his voice soars with passion as he shares the true emotions of love in this pure and honest song by Dave Pahanish and Joe West. "Without You" relates totally to Keith's life as well, just as it can to anyone else who recognizes the joys of love.

This was one of my favorite songs from the Deluxe version of Get Closer. I've loved it from the first listen. Keith's voice just shines in this simply done, passionate song. I, too, hope radio will show it some love and shoot it right up the charts.
