Keith Urban Partners with Ticketmater for Ticket Scalping?
By: Matt Bjorke

Country superstar Keith Urban, who’s up for “Entertainer of the Year” and Male Vocalist of the Year” among other awards for tomorrow’s CMA Awards telecast on ABC TV (8pm E/W), has recently been accused by an investigative report from Nashville’s News Channel 5. The news station reports that Urban had ‘secretly’ partnered with Ticket Master to hold back 50-200 prime location tickets to be sold on their ticketsnow second-hand broker/scalping website.
What wasn’t really said in the article, which mentions the recent $25 “All For The Hall” tickets as a prime example of tickets being sold by brokers before the general public could buy the ‘set priced tickets, is that there were multiple pre-general public sale opportunities with specific codes for purchase. A ticket broker is going to have the same access to these access-codes to purchase the best tickets they can buy.
What’s your opinion of this, do you think that Keith Urban really partnered with Ticket Master for this scheme or is it simply another case of Ticket Brokers robbing the general public’s ability to purchase the tickets for face value? Do you think ticket brokers (aka legal scalping) should be outlawed?

Ticketmaster does this all the time and big time this year. This is everyones fault for letting them have a monopoly. Vote with your feet and stop buying overpriced garbage. Bands complain about empty stadiums .... well it isnt just the economy. I personally have seen this ticket game played and its to gouge their customers. Why let them? Stop buying their crap and they loose all power. For some reason people insist on lining up to be gouged and treated like cattle.

I know from personal experience trying to buy tickets this year with the presale code, I went on literally as tickets went on sale, and they were all sold out...made me suspicious about the ethics. I wouldn't be surprised if this was true

Wouldn't surprise me about Keith. Let someone else take the lead, I don't care if he is a friend of Brad's. Keep the kiwi "down under" and let us bring back the USA to country.

Why are you guys doing this to Keith on the eve of the CMAs? Why did this Tennessee News Channel break this story during the CMAs?? Sort of a tacky move IMO! I can't see Keith Urban ever knowingly doing anything crooked to hurt his fans! He for sure doesn't need what little money he would make and I thought all proceeds went to the Hall of Fame. This story just sounds rather fishy and especially when it came out at such a convenient time to hurt his chances at the CMAs.
