Josh Thompson - "Way Out Here"
By: Matt Bjorke

Here’s a conversation that could happen anytime or anywhere. It’s between two country music lovin’ friends who are discussing the current country music single charts…
Jack: What’s this? Another ‘from the country’ song?
Gary: Yes.
Jack: When will country writers get that we don’t want to hear yet another name-dropping, paean to rural life?
Gary: Well, hoss, it will happen when fans stop liking songs about themselves, and if I know anything about country music fans, that will never happen.
Jack: I see. So can I ask a question, mr. expert?
Gary: Go ahead.
Jack: If Nashville is going to insist on writing and releasing these kinds of songs, can we have something that hints at originality?
Gary: If you want that, you should check out Josh Thompson’s new single “Way Out Here.”
Jack: What separates it from Justin Moore and Easton Corbin and the others out there?
Gary: In addition to sounding like a smoother Charlie Robison, Josh Thompson sings “Way Out Here” like a man who’s actually lived the life he’s singing about. And he has, considering he lived off the land for a spell.
Jack: WHAT? A singer living the life they describe in the song?
Gary: Welcome to country music, brother.
Jack: I am a country music fan and have been for years. I am just tired of city slickers singing songs about country life when they don’t have a clue how to rope a steer or break their back?
Gary: Brother, just listen to “Way Out Here.” It talks exactly about those issues.
Jack: If it’s as good as you say, it should be a big hit.
Gary: I think it will be one. There’s even a video already, something that’s rare for a new artist and new single.

I agree with Paul, and I completely agree with the review. Way Out Here is the best complete CD that I have heard since the mid 1990's. Every song is great, Josh has the strong vocals to pull off straight acoustic tracks and he is exactly what he appears to be. Good stuff! Thanks for the great review!! Everyone needs to go out and get the CD! He also puts on an awesome live show!

This is a creative way to write a review. Was fun to read! Hope to see more of them. Also, I LOVE this song and puts beer on the table. So so great!
