As a newly-signed band to a major label, it takes quite a bit of guts for your first single with said label to sing a song which honestly calls out your peers on the radio. And this is exactly what Texas Country superstar act Josh Abbott Band has done with "I'll Sing About Mine," a song which is honest in the lyrical content with biting lines like "Tractors ain't sexy and working is hard, for small town people like me" and "the small town anthems they're singin' don't sound like what you see when you talk about the dairy queen, pick-up trucks and Springsteen make the place I love sound like a bad cartoon" He also goes on to say: "Now, I ain't saying that their lives ain't hard, I'd love to hear about it some time, but let them sing about their own life, and I'll sing about mine."

It's a strong song and certainly an interesting personalized take on real life in small towns. It's also interesting that it's one of the few songs Abbott didn't write (Adam Hood and Brian Keane did). He actually changed the first verse to reflect his personal small hometown.
