All new artists need an interesting song to gain the attention of fans and radio and the industry alike and with "It's A Girl Thing" Jesse Lee has done just that. It's a playful mid-tempo track that lists off some of the things that help to differentiate a girl from a guy and as to explain a guy's confusion with the differences, Jessie proclaims "It's a girl thing." This song, written by Jesse Lee with Rachel Proctor and Victoria Banks and produced by Mark Bright (Carrie Underwood), might have sounded very contrieved or forced coming from many female artists out there but Miss Jesse Lee has a strong country voice that recalls a younger Joey Martin or even Emmylou Harris. And while the production is firmly mainstream, it's that voice and Jesse Lee's playful delivery of the lyrics that ultimately saves the single.
Here's hoping this one does well so that we can hear more from this very talented singer/songwriter.

I normally warm up to new female artists quickly, as I enjoy listening to female singers better. However this song just isn't doing it for me, It's another list song and not one that's very good to begin with...I wish the best for Jesse Lee as she has a good voice but I doubt this song will catch on at radio. I'd much rather see Emily West, Jessica Harp or Holly Williams' new songs catch.

Mark Bright didn't produce Emily's stuff as of late. Jeremy Stover did.

Now this is the kind of new female country artist I like to see come along, and she sounds alright to boot! (lol) I think Mark Bright is a talented producer but his skills haven't helped either Whitney Duncan or Emily West at radio lately. Maybe Jesse Lee will be the "Third time's a charm" artist among these talented gals. There are so few openings at Top 40 country radio these days I hope this song garners enough attention to pry the door open a bit...
