Jason Aldean - "Big Green Tractor"

Where would Broken Bow Records be without Jason Aldean? Despite not having a hit song that scores in the yearly Top 10 as consistently as former label mate Craig Morgan did, Jason Aldean recorded songs that got fans interested in purchasing his albums and, in this digital age, he continues to do so as "She's Country" found its way to the top of the Charts. That single, which mixed AC/DC rhythms with 'rural' lyrics and country instrumentation, was even the best selling ringtone for a few days while also selling enough digital singles to be certified gold, a milestone only a handful of country artists have achieved so far.
What would Aldean and Broken Bow do for an encore single? Well, they went the safe route with "Big Green Tractor" (listen here), a song that's neither compelling nor very interesting; in fact, the melody and vocal cadence is a dead ringer for "Livin' Our Love Song" from Jason Michael Carroll. This is a very safe song selection but it is too middle-of-the-road sounding and the song feels exactly like the kind of track that used to be a staple of Craig Morgan's Broken Bow records. So while "Big Green Tractor" is likely to continue Jason Aldean's radio success, it isn't the kind of song that will inspire many fans to buy his “Wide Open” album (read review here), which in turn means this song won't help sell concert tickets either, something Aldean is aiming for as he tries to raise his status from supporting act to headliner.

I disagree with your ideas that Big Green Tractor is not a hit nor that it will draw fans to Aldean concerts. I run a pop culture page for a daily newspaper and I gave a rave review for Aldean's new album, Wide Open and stated my favorite song on this new release was Big Green Tractor. It is a refreshing love song country style, nice to see Aldean's softer side ...

Aw...one of the few times you're negative about a song is one of the times when I can't help but kind of like it.:) I think it's pleasant enough, but agree that it's not particularly special. I don't hear the "Living Our Love Song" comparison though.
