On the strength of high profile award show nominations and critical praise, Jamey Johnson proves that an artist can not only avoid a sophomore slump but overcome it to become a wholly realized artist as Jamey's self-produced and financed album "That Lonesome Song" has gone from underground indie classic to mainstream success, with much of his sales success happening in the last four months.  The Award-winning songwriter of George Strait's #1 hit "Give It Away" and his own "In Color," (listen here) Jamey Johnson took to the Outlaw spirit pioneered by Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash to craft "That Lonesome Song," without any conessions to what might get one of the songs on mainstream radio. 

It took some time but radio played "In Color" throughout the majority of 2008 and while the single never made it past the Top 15 on the charts, the song stuck in the heards and minds of many fans.  That song, which was Roughstock's #1 single from 2008 coupled with Jamey's current Top 40 single "High Cost of Living" have given hope to traditional fans that country music isn't dead yet.
