Idol drops Teen Country Singer Haeley Vaughn

Throughout its eight previous years, American Idol has given birth to quite an array of talent yet the one genre where Idols tend to find the most success, for whatever reason, is country music.  While there aren't really many country singers in this season's ninth cycle of the show, one of the most unique talents to emerge was Haeley Vaughn.

Haeley Vaughn was unique because she is an African-American teenager who loves country music.  She obviously needs more seasoning and that's the reason why she was kicked off of Idol this week but she goes to prove that there are African-American kids out there that do love what country music has to offer and while we probably don't need to find the black answer for Taylor Swift, the country music genre could still use more black artists, particularly female ones as the most successful black artists in country music have all been male with Charley Pride and Darius Rucker the most obvious examples.

What do you think?  Do you think that country music needs some more diversity? Do you think the industry really cares if there is diversity?

Haeley another Taylor Swift? No Way! Haeley can sing..... Taylor CONNOT SING....sne is horrible. Only reason TS is where she is it's because someone is spending lots of money pushing her and the teeny boppers have gone crazy. Haeley has a good voice ...bring her back in a few years. I love country, real country of the old style.

The little gal had a good run getting that far, however, I feel quality rather than diversity is important. Y'all know that they gotta sound good no matter whatever else they are dealing with in their lives. Everyone has a journey.

I though Haeley was great. I truly hope she will continue pursuing a musical career. Countrry music today needs REAL talent, such as Haeley. It seems most of the rising stars are just cookie-cutter, same looks, same type songs. Country music, which I truly did love, has become incredibly boring. We need more like Haeley.

As a young (25) African-American male, I personally consider country music as my favorite genre. I grew up listening to to the legends that my dad used to play. I think it's good to see younger black involved in country music, if they have talent. As a country music fan, I just want to hear good country, regardless of who is singing it. Not some of the "country" music that plays today is not what I consider country. Seems as if they are just handing out deals to anyone these days.

My DJs said on the radio this morning that she was the Black Taylor Swift and I was like yeah, she is, she can't sing in tune or pitch either. I'm pretty sure that was what they were hinting at as well. There are a lot of blacks that like country music...so what! Country music/radio just needs help. They keep the top 5 songs on constant rotation and you are so sick of them before they fall down the charts. They need to stop with the politics and just play the music and not who is the flavor of the month. Let the people who listen in decide, not the music director of the station!!
