Hank Williams, Jr. Pulled From Monday Night Football
By: Roughstock Staff
In a move that surprises nobody, oft-outspoken singer/songwriter and country music legend Hank Williams, Jr. has been removed from the opening title sequence of Monday Night Football on ESPN after commenting on today’s Fox and Friends show on the Fox News Channel that this summer’s ‘golf summit’ between President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner was “one of the biggest political mistakes ever.”
Hank Jr. later said “It would be like Hitler playing golf with Israel’s leader Benjamin Netanyahu.”
When Fox News asked him to explain his analogy, he said that the President and Vice President Joe Biden were “the enemy.”
ESPN hasn’t said whether they’ll reinstate Hank Jr. in time for next week’s broadcast of Monday Night Football.
What do you think? Do you think ESPN should've suspended Hank Jr. from tonight's telecast? Do you think they took the potential Senator Candidate in 2012's comments to harshly?
UPDATE 10-6-2011: Hank Jr Officially Dropped from MNF.

Hank should engage his brain before he opens his mouth. And what our countrys polititions need to do is play more golf across political lines. Maybe they could learn to work together to solve the issues that concern the people of the USA. Political posturing to the far left or far right is no way to git er done. Stop stiring the pot Hank.

Are ya'll aware of the story and song this post that I came across today about Diamond Rio? I haven't seen ya'll mention it...so I thought I'd check...the video is amazing, and a great song...it is on FB right now...here is the guys words about it...the guys post: Whitney Moll Awesome song by Diamond Rio - The song you are about to hear is from a Las Vegas Diamond Rio concert. They received an immediate resounding standing ovation, and continue to do so every time they perform. Sadly, major radio stations wouldn't play it because it is considered "politically incorrect." Consequently, the song was not released to the public. Although it is written for the United States it also applies to Canada and most other free Countries. You may want to share the song by circulating it to your friends OR maybe not. We still have the freedom of choice. Share · January 28

If Jr. would sober up long enough to know what planet he's on... Perhaps he'd have a better perspective of the ''real'' world...

Hank just used a analogy but still SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER. He did NOT compare Hussain Oboma to Hitler. Hey Gretchen....just pray for world peace and don't waste your time disassociating FOX from Hank.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. HE SAID "..that this summer’s ‘golf summit’ between President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner was “one of the biggest political mistakes ever.” Hank Jr. later said “It would be like Hitler playing golf with Israel’s leader Benjamin Netanyahu.”

Can't anyone else see that HE DIDN'T COMPARE OBAMA TO HITLER, he compared Obama playing golf with Boehner to Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu. Two sets of poliltical opposites. Have any of you actually read what he said? How stupid does ESPN think we are? They just wanted to dump him and needed an excuse.

Freedom of speech, he expressed his opinion, had it been more favorable in their opinion, no big deal but because it's real, what he feels and not sensored they don't like it. Guess they prefer fake, blow smoke up your butt statements.

One of the great things about the USA is our right to express yourselves freely . the sad thing is sometimes that freedom exposes those who exercise it as fools . Anyone who seriously can compare Obama , the freely elected president of our great country to one of the most horrible mass murderers of all history is nothing short of stupid . as well as an insult to the thousands of American heroes who died fighting that madman . Hank , make your music, but please spend a few moments thinking before you make utterly ridiculous statements .

If I was Hank I would say good riddance to MNFB. He has the right to his opinion and I am glad he stood up for what he believed in. That is what he is talking about with government, all our freedoms are going right out the window. Corps, government and big wigs think they can shut us up by controlling our thoughts and teaching us to keep our mouths shut. God bless you Hank Williams Jr. you spoke the truth that government is dealing dirty. Do back down from the truth, no matter the price.

Anna, Hank Jr. has the right to free speech but that doesn't mean there aren't repercussions for one's actions, which is what happened here and he should've known that something could come of his comments. Extremism is never good for the world or humanity and the comment comparing the President to Hitler was extreme.

Anna,
Hank Jr. may be entitled to say it but he has to 'pay' for consequences of stating an opinion that is downright vile. There's no way Obama is anything like Hitler. Anyone making such comparisons obviously doesn't care to relearn history.

That's one of the bigger problems with being a "star" ~ he should've learned a lesson from the Dixie Chicks. Look how much popularity they lost due to their political remarks. And Jane Fonda had the same thing happen to her! I respect others' opinions & this is supposedly a free country but guess the media doesn't agree! Darn!

THEY asked his opinion and he gave it, now they're penalizing him for it. Maybe more harshly than most people would state it. Last I checked he had freedom of speech (the media uses it, without any proof all the time), he didn't threaten anyone. Just gave a politically unpopular opinion.

Hank, Jr is entitled to his opinion and we may all do not agree with it but this is America where we are entitled to speak our mind.
