Gretchen Wilson - Don't Do Me No Good

Grammy Award-winning Gretchen Wilson has a touch for reaching the hearts and ears of the masses, stemming back to her proud 2004 outcry "Redneck Woman." That same attitude resurfaces on "Don't Do Me No Good." This strong Illinois native shows that one is best to pick themselves up and get on with their life after any troubling losses, most obviously - a breakup. Outstanding string-play and seamless chord changes drive the record, however it's Wilson's believability in her own strength that separate this single from the pack. The delivery is unwavering, and the attitude presented is just as bold as the message. The song's presentation, like its message are simple, but any time a singer of this magnitude can avoid appearing vulnerable and match the lyrics' conviction, the possibility for an anthem is born.

rick is right on the money when he says there is no place in country music for traditional country music, this is something that needs to change and hopefully soon, all is on radio these days is the same ole music ,taylor ,carrie, or some other blonde poping up , it might not be so bad if they could actually sing, but they can't ,but still get played over & over, while the artist that are singing real country music get no airplay , the music business is the same as politics, it comes down to the all mighty dollar, let's hope the days of this crap that is being played on radio willcome to pass ,at least we can hope

Gretchen Wilson is WHY I listen to Country Radio. I always look forward to a new Gretchen song. This song is bluesy and it fits her instrumental style. Outlaw Rock On Gretchen!

I just listened to this song on Gretchen's MySpace and it will become another failed single from her in today's Top 40 environment. Back when Gretchen was fresh and considered "the Next Big Thing" by country radio because of "Redneck Woman" radio would play her singles and they did well. Sadly those days are long gone and she has fallen from grace at Airhead Country Radio (AHC), but fortunately she has a big enough fan base to keep here career going in spite of the lack of radio support. This new single will not get her back in as its just too conventional and borders on the mundane. Gretchen should pull a Keith Urban and release "Skoal Ring" as her next single and if that tanks toss in the towel at AHC and call it a day at radio and just keep touring. If I were Gretchen's label I'd make a list of all the Top 40 stations that still support her and just give the new single to those stations only. Of all the new top female artists of the 2000's Gretchen has done more to keep traditional country alive than all of the others combined (with the exceptions of Leeann Womack and Pam Tillis). "All Jacked Up" contains honky tonk songs of true distinction and I'll admit I haven't listened to her newer material, but I hope she's keeping hard core country in the mix along with the uptempo southern rockers. In this age of female pop diva domination of AHC (I call it the Blonde Barbie Bimbo Bombastic Battalion) a real country artist like Gretchen no longer fits in, and that's a cryin' shame....
