With one album under their belt as a trio (it featured the hit “Runaway”), now duo Love and Theft will return June 9, 2012 with a brand new album released under their new record label home RCA Records.  The self-titled album Love and Theft was produced by award-winning legendary songwriter/musician/producer Josh Leo (Alabama, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Paul Brandt, Emerson Drive) and finds the duo honing in on their earthy, harmony-driven roots.

It’s a sound that stands in sharp contrast to their debut World Wide Open, released for the now-closed Lyric Street Records label. While they remain proud of that effort, the duo is excited to share their more honest, soulful sound with their growing set of loyal fans.  The downsizing of the group from trio to the duo of earthy voiced Eric Gunderson and tenor voiced Stephen Barker Liles has allowed them to capitalize on their return to basics with a record that they feel will bring them closer to what they set out to be, a soulful, earthy band that writes and records tunes that stay true to themselves, without ever feeling too ‘slick’ and anything less than organic

“Love and Theft is a true duo in every sense of the word,” says Leo. “They seamlessly trade lead vocals during the songs and sometimes, I’m not even 100% sure who is singing the lead. They are that good.”

“We love performing,” says Stephen. “The way we recorded our new album is the way our influences made records: live with a band. It’s a lot more organic.”

The guys happily share lead vocals, harmonize like a church choir, and bolster their band with their own guitar work. “Stephen and I have always been on the same page as far as the vision for Love and Theft and what we want it to be,” says Eric. “We feel like we have made the record we’ve always wanted to make.”

Love and Theft’s lead single “Angel Eyes” is currently sitting near the Top 30 of both the Billboard and Country Aircheck/Mediabase airplay charts.  You can view the music video for “Angel Eyes”by clicking here. You can also pre-order the album by clicking here.
