Dierks Bentley - "I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes"

Like most of country music's radio stars throughout the years Dierks Bentley has the ability to melt audiences hearts with a tender ballad and that's precisely what he seemingly is doing with his latest single, the steel-guitar-laced "I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes." It's a nice ballad and will no doubt be a big hit at country radio but one has to wonder if Dierks isn't playing it a bit safe at this point, particularly when "Beautiful World," a striking duet with Patty Griffin, fits a similar laid-back mood but is a much better song and another mid-tempo song "You Hold Me Together" features a romantic lyric but is melodically more interesting. Don't get me wrong, I still do like the tender side of Dierks but he's much more than his last two (or three) radio singles make him out to be.

The cd overall has grown on me a little since it came out, I guess I just had really high expectations and his first 3 albums are some of my favorites of all time. I still hope the song does well just because I like Dierks so much in general.

I disagree with all of you! I love the song and the CD! While I do hope Beautiful World will be a single soon, I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes is one the best songs on the CD, but I also think the entire CD is one of the better country CD's I've heard in awhile!

Erik, you're right about that. I couldn't wait for that cd to be released, and it was just an overall disappointment, and it took what, over 2 years to make.

It's one of the best songs on "Feel That Fire", but that's not saying much.

This song is disappointing. Just sort of bland and dull, not nearly as good as Comer a Little Closer and some of his other previous slower songs.

His voice is terrible. He strains too much for me! Not a great song!
