Craig Morgan - "This Ain't Nothin"
By: Matt Bjorke

Craig Morgan surprised many people across the interwebs when he scored another Top 10 hit with “Bonfire,” a song that made some people’s worst of 2009 lists, likely due to his ‘shouting’ rather than ‘singing’ of the lyric. If anyone thought Morgan would continue to sing in that way, well consider this new single the antidote to that. “This Ain’t Nothin’” is a sweet song about the human condition and how we manage to adjust and pull ourselves up from our bootstraps, despite how bad things may seem.
Where Darryl Worley’s “Sounds Like Life To Me” felt like he was telling his buddy to ‘grow a pair and man up’ about his situation, “This Ain’t Nothin’” is a song that finds the wisdom of age showcasing a much more graceful reaction to a bad thing. Written by Kerry Kurt Phillips and Chris DuBois, this is a song that is full of heart, is passionately sung and the production never drowns out the lyrics. Craig Morgan may love singin’ those uptempo songs like “Bonfire,” but he truly shines on songs like “This Ain’t Nothin,” A song that really deserves to be a big hit, something that everyone couldn't say about the previous hit “Bonfire.”

Cindy, The 2nd verse says that he lost his Brother, his best friend AND his left hand (he was wounded).

I have a question about the lyrics...when Craig mentions vietnam and he lost his brother, his best friend and his left hand. Do you think he is talking about three differnt things or that his brother was his left hand and best friend?

You know, Given the events in Haiti, I think Craig could really donate proceeds from this song to the relief efforts there...

I've told Craig before, I love the emotion he puts into this song! The acoustic performance is wonderful. Craig's voice paints a perfect picture of the old man standing in the rubble and telling the reporter what's really important in life - our loved ones and our memories. So glad this is Craig's new single off of his "That's Why" CD!

When Craig sings songs like "This Ain't Nothing," I fall in love with his music all over again. He is definitely one Country singer to watch and I will continue doing that. ;) I've had the privilege of hearing Craig sing this song 'live' and was so glad when he reissued his "That's Why" album to include it and "Bonfire!" Craig's choosing a song co-written by both Kerry Kurt Phillips and Chris DuBois was a very wise move as they are both very gifted writers...as is Craig himself.

Craig has one of the best voices in country. "God Must Really Love Me" gives me chills and “This Ain’t Nothin’” brings me to tears, particularly when I hear it live. I hope this song goes to the top of the charts.
