I flipped on GAC this morning and caught the new Katie Armiger and Ashlee Hewitt video included above for "Just Want To Be With You This Christmas" and it was okay. Katie has a lot of potential but her vocals are usually far too self conscious and mentally controlled to express real emotions. If Katie could put natural emotional expression before technique her songs would become more accessible. Katie has a nicer voice than Taylor Swift but lacks the passion and believability (and uniqueness) in her delivery (and the clever syncopation as well). Maybe 2009 will be the year Katie releases a single that gains some real traction at Top 40 country radio.
