Christmas Country Album Reviews 2008
By: Roughstock Staff

Here's a rundown of all of the Christmas albums reviewed by Roughstock this year. Just click on the album covers to read the reviews.
Collin Raye - A Family Christmas
Collin Raye was one of the 1990's most consistent hit makers and as radio turned to younger newer stars, his profile may have gotten lower but he continues to put out great material. This year he has released his 2nd holiday album.
Amy Grant - The Christmas Collection
Amy Grant is one of the most successful Christian singers so it makes sense that she's also one of the most popular singers of Christmas songs. This album gathers the best of her previous holiday albums while mixing in 4 new songs.
Elvis Presley - Christmas Duets
What happens when you pair one of Christmas and the music world's legends with contemporary Country stars? Well, you get a pretty damn good collection of yuletide hits in the form of this new album.
George Strait - Classic Christmas
George Strait has recorded many classic songs over the years so it seems natural that he'd record and release a set of classic songs like this. This is a collection of ten sturdy classics for any holiday music fan.
Skip Ewing - Follow Yonder Star
In the music business very few albums will last long enough to be in print 18 years after their first release, particularly an artist who's known more as a songwriter than as a singer yet here it is, a holiday favorite with some classic songs.
Julianne Hough - NBC Sounds Of The Season
Each year Target stores team up with NBC to present "Sounds Of The Season" collections from a variety of artists. This year they selected Julianne Hough to represent Country music. Her EP features a mixture of mostly contemporary classic holiday favorites.
Faith Hill - Joy To The World
With a voice that was made for Holiday music, Faith Hill presents her Christmas album. With a complete orchestra behind her, the album is quite a yuletide treat.

Rick, I am not a person to listen to the yuletide fare until the day after Thanksgiving. And once Christmas parties are done with family around Christmas, I stop listening to it for a year as well.

Only a week until Christmas and this music gets put away for another year like the tree ornaments. WooHoo! I like a little Christmas music between Thanksgiving and Christmas but I get saturated quickly. Its a pleasant seasonal diversion but I've had enough already. Like rich Christmas dinner desserts, a little goes a long way......
