Relative newcomer Brandon Rhyder premiers his single "This Ain't It." The record, like so many others, urges a loved one not to leave - "off all the days, this ain't it." Rhyder has a younger sound, which ventures into light Pop territory, and while the vocals and delivery are less Country than one might expect, the song is light fare in a contemporary set. The melody carries the message further than expected, and unlike so many similar works, the singer makes the words less about himself and more about the departing lover, which in turn, allows the track to resonate all the better. Whether radio will care to embrace this arrival remains to be seen, but Rhyder outdoes quite a few of his more seasoned peers.
