Trisha Yearwood has recorded many great songs throughout her career and one of the best is “The Song Remembers When.” Written by Hugh Prestwood, the song has a simple message and story. Hugh describes how he got the inspiration for the song:

“The title for this song came from an Ann Sexton poem “The Music Swims Back To Me.” An old woman in (I surmise) a nursing home hears the radio playing and says “That song remembers more than I do.” Sometime later my wife and I were driving in the Colorado Rockies and heard one of my songs on the radio for the first time (Hard Rock Bottom OF Your Heart). It was a great moment and I was inspired to go ahead and write the song.
